Reflections on the Quarantine

16 April, 2020

People all around the world have been in a quarantine lock down due to the Covid-19 virus outbreak for about a month. In some areas, families can go for walks, while in other areas people are only allowed to go outside for things like getting food. This crisis imposed isolation, called “social distancing,” is raising … More Reflections on the Quarantine

Is Distributism the "official" Catholic economic system?

2 April, 2020

One accusation that is often made against distributists is that we claim distributism is the official economic system of the Catholic Church. This is because we frequently cite official Catholic teaching in support of our positions, and also because of the undeniable fact that Distributism started as a primarily Catholic movement, with a primarily Catholic … More Is Distributism the "official" Catholic economic system?

The Cost of Comparative Advantage

6 March, 2020

The advocates of Free Trade deals between countries frequently cite the fact that more products are made available at a lower cost to consumers as proof that their idea makes economic sense. Their explanation of how this works rests on the idea of Comparative Advantage,[1] the idea that one country can produce a good at … More The Cost of Comparative Advantage

Global Trade vs. Free Trade

20 February, 2020

Those who know the positions of distributists will understand that we are generally not in favor of modern “Free Trade” schemes. Is Distributism a Socialist Cult?

12 February, 2020

I know a lot of Catholics who really like the YouTube channel of Dr. Taylor Marshall. They view him as one of the few reliable commentators on the Faith and living it in today’s world. That is why I was so disappointed when I watched “Against Catholic Distributism w Dr Jay Richards and #TnT (Dr … More Is Distributism a Socialist Cult?

Protecting the vote of the people

7 February, 2020

When the officers of government are chosen by the vote of the people, it is crucial that the people can trust the process of having elections and counting the votes. As long as there have been elections, there have been problems with them. Over time, societies have worked out how to mitigate these problems so … More Protecting the vote of the people

Distributism is not about government redistribution. Distributism (a.k.a. Localism) advocates the greatest amount of private, locally owned, independent businesses, focusing on strong local economies as the foundation of a strong national economy. It also advocates the decentralization of government authority over the current trend of relying on a central government that constantly increases its power.
