  1. Agreed. I think that it comes with the definitions we have of 'socialism' and 'capitalism.' Most modern socialists borrow their utopian visions from post-Marxist perspectives that redefine the essential nature of humanity, the cosmos, morality, etc. From this perspective, and for the Ayn Randian capitalists that equally redefine humanity, such visions of economic activity are destined for failure since they fail to grasp what it means to be human and the role God has in our lives individually and as communities (and as a Community-big 'c'- of believers).

  2. Hello Mr Ahlquist,My name is Rene Trabanino. I am employed as a physician and am a practicing Catholic in the St Augustine parish in Culver City, CA. I wanted to invite you to give a talk on distributism to help instruct us so that we can further some work we are trying to do to bring Catholic ideals more fully into politics, to effect good changes. We are involved with the American Solidarity Party which is a relatively new party which is fundamentally pro-life and uses Catholic social teaching, including economic policies such as subsidiarity, distributism, and solidarity, as well as other approaches which align with Catholic teaching. The party was featured on Angelus News: https://angelusnews.com/news/us-world/did-you-know-theres-a-third-party-based-on-catholic-teaching/Its platform aligns greatly with the Magisterium: https://solidarity-party.org/about-us/platform/It would be a great pleasure to have you give a talk on “building a just economic system” to provide direction and possible policies as we seek to bring these Catholic principles to the broad political arena.Thank you for your attention and look forward to your response. In Christ Rene Trabanino M.D., Ph.D.
